One of the first things the students do in the morning, is to take out the horses to the pastures. Here we have the pastures schedule. J

    1. Hey Lena! Absolutely they do, they are about 2, 5 - 3 months free from the school where they go to bigger areas. Unfortunately do we not have bigger pastures in wintertime! We want to have it, but we have no area for that.

  2. Hi Krisina

I can't see the pasture schedule clearly. Is it showing which students have responsibility for which horses? Does it show which pastures the horses will go to?

Are there some days through the winter when the horses are not taken into the pastures?

What are students taught about when taking the horses into the pasture?

    2. Hi Susanne! I understand, it shows which pasture the horses will go to. The red line is for AM and the green line is for the afternoon. The schedule changes every day depending on which horses who goes riding lessons in the morning and the opposite.
It have to bee extremely bad weather if we not take out them, like when it is very much ice on the ground.
We always taught the students to think about the safety on the first hands. When the students come to the box they have to check over the horse so the horse look well and don´t show any sickness symptom. Very important! The horses have a halter and the students use a halter-chain when they lead them out to the pastures. They go on the left side on the horse, close to the shoulder and they always have to be attentive on the horse.
When they drop the horses into the pastures they have to release them at the same time and also have turned them around so it is easy to get under the fence. Accident goes fast. They are not allowed to leave any horse alone in the pastures, because of the horses’ behavior.

How do you do at your school? :)

  3. Hi Kristina
Do you have students practicing in school stable instead of practicing at "a real farm"?

    1. Hi Gudni! Yes we have, but that is not what we want them to do. We want that the students practicing at a real farm at least totally 15 weeks. How about you?
