 Here the 2nd year students are practicing blood collection from the tail vein of a rat. They will then proceed with analyzing the blood and checking that the animal is healthy

  2. Hi Lena, Rats only live to about 2-3 years. We have very strong animal ethics procedures at our workplace and so therefore we can only use the animals once for these types of procedures. They are the old animals. When the animals are young the students use them for handling classes where students learn how to handle and hold them correctly and how to sex them correctly. After this they are used for breeding classes where the students will set up breeding pairs and will monitor the pregnancy, parturition and growth of the young.

    No, not with blood. But there are some students who read courses about all kind of diseases the horse can get and in that course do they practice to treat the diseases.
