Here you can see one of the students preparing the hoof before shoeing it! It is important to train this moment properly before shoeing a living horse!!
There is a limit in two aspects. The hoof gets a lot of holes in it so in the end it is not realistic any more. The other thing is that we keep them in the freeze and then we have to thaw them every time we use them. After freezing and thawing a few times the hoof may start to smell a little. It is best to stop using it before that happens.
There are 6 students in a group and they all get their own hoof to work with. The teacher goes round and helps and shows how to solve problems. The students are close to each other so that they have a dialogue with each other as well!
Every lesson is about one hour for each group. A longer lesson would render them tired in theĆre legs and in there back.
Hi Gudni
ReplyDeleteIs there a limit to the number of times that you are able to use each horses leg for this type of practice, or can students keep doing it many times?

Hi!
ReplyDeleteAre the students looking at each other when they do it and give each other comments? How can a lesson look like?

This sounds interesting Gudni. If one student is having difficulties do they ever get support and guidance from other students?
